Looks like the BIXLER gliding competitions are going to be a success..... 3 days of gliding and fun so far.....8 Bixlers purchased recently ..... also the 2metre gliders are shaping up for some good future competition......the Scanner competitions are still running....although i believe any similar plane with a .46 motor is now allowed to compete....so not strictly Scanner......

What did the competitor's think about the scoring system?
Everyone knows that REAL ENGINES are used by REAL men. Eklectic motors are best left for use in toothbrushes and other unnecessary things.

BIXLER COMP.........Working on the scoring system ......and have updated the launching and landing format after our conversation at the field on Thursday..... 30 second countdown to takeoff... 1 minute up until Motors off..... no altimeters required.... go as high as you like in that 1 minute or even head off and find a thermal if you're lucky...... after motors are turned off there will be 5 minutes flying time until landing..... the 1 minute of MOTORISED flight will give people with slower planes a chance to better position themselves higher in preparation for the 5 minute free flight to the finish.... this will save the last minute rush trying to install the height limiters.... we only have 5 altimeters and it seemed a bit confusing ....some trying to use telemetry,....others not using anything,...some of the altimeters on the wrong height settings... and other limiters seemed a bit dodgy with the connections. Hopefully this system will work ....and we can use the altimeters when we are a bit more organised and also for the larger gliders.
